Dunedin, More Rocks and Oamaru

We bid a fond farewell to the Queenstown region and headed to the east coast.

The town of Dunedin (Doo-NEE-dihn) boasts some beautiful architecture.

...and an interesting museum...

There was also a Chinese Garden honoring the early Chinese immigrants.

Further north along the  Otego coast is the Koekohe Beach, where the Moeraki Boulders lie. They are a strange and beautiful phenomenon that has occurred in this part of the world.

Perfectly spherical, these boulders are mudstone cementations created during the Paleocene (55-65 million years ago) era, that have been uncovered by erosion.

..just a cool piece of seaweed...

Oamaru was our stopping point for today's drive.  There is a Steampunk Museum we wanted to check out, and later, a viewing of some blue penguins returning to shore from the ocean.

There was a saying when I was in high school, "Oh my stahs and gahters!"

More amazing architecture...

And this is it: the home of the largest Steampunk gathering  in the world (see Guiness

New Zealand also has a lot of "Vintage Clothing" stores....

We ended up having dinner at the Stars and Garter Restaurant, which contained a lot of cool photos of people who had held their wedding/anniversary parties here...

The best food yet!!
